Apple’s touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro could go on sale on Friday, November 6. The laptop is expected to debut on October 27 or October 28, so buyers would wait more than a week between the announcement and the first store sales. Apple has not confirmed either date.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared the November 6 date on his latest podcast. He points to Apple’s retail stores as the clue, since they reportedly have a “big floor reset” scheduled for the evening of Thursday, November 5, that runs into Friday, November 6. Gurman says the reset could be preparation for the new Macs.
A Creator Gathering in Los Angeles Is Expected to Introduce the Laptop First
The reset would follow a debut in late October. Apple is planning a creator-focused gathering in Los Angeles to introduce the new products, and it is reportedly inviting media to an October 28 launch experience.
Gurman did not say whether Apple will hold a traditional event. He suggested the company will at the very least put out videos for the new products. Apple has not announced any of these dates, so the schedule remains a report for now.
The Touchscreen MacBook Pro Is Expected to Keep the M5 Pro and M5 Max Chips
The OLED models could be sold as a higher-end option next to the current mini-LED MacBook Pro lineup, and new chips are not expected. Apple is said to be using the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips found in the existing models, so the OLED display, touch support and a body that is much lighter than today’s models would be the main changes.
Apple is rumored to launch other hardware alongside it, including an OLED iPad mini, an M6 iMac and an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip.
Gurman previously said the laptop might be called the MacBook Ultra, then walked that back and suggested the new OLED Macs would stay part of the MacBook Pro line. He had also suggested the foldable iPhone could be called the iPhone Ultra, and Apple named it the iPhone Duo instead.
Apple’s Launch Calendar Would Run From October 23 to November 13
If the MacBook Pro goes on sale November 6, Apple will spend three weeks releasing new hardware. iPhone Duo pre-orders open Friday, October 16, at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, and the rest of Apple’s October launch schedule fills in around the Mac debut:
- October 23: iPhone Duo goes on sale
- October 27 or 28: touchscreen MacBook Pro debut, according to Gurman
- October 30: HomePod mini 2 ships
- November 6: touchscreen MacBook Pro could go on sale
- November 13: Apple HomeView and the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K are released
