iOS 16.4 to bring the updated architecture for HomeKit and Home app

MacRumors has confirmed that the updated architecture for HomeKit and Home app will be re-released in the upcoming iOS 16.4 update.

In iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, and macOS Ventura 13.1, Apple released a new underlying architecture for HomeKit and Home app to improve the performance and reliability of smart home accessories.

However, the update was pulled immediately after release because it was infested with bugs. The unfortunate users, who updated their Home app to the new architecture reported issues like devices missing from the app, not responding, and others.

Second version of updated architecture for HomeKit will be available in spring in iOS 16.4

At the time of its withdrawal, Apple said that the upgraded architecture for HomeKit would return.

We temporarily removed the option to upgrade to the new Home architecture. The option to upgrade will return soon. If you already upgraded, you are unaffected by this change.

A code discovered in the iOS 16.3 update corroborates MacRumor’s claim. Twitter users @Aaron and @Nicolas Alveraz found references to the second version of the updated HomeKit architecture which would be re-released soon.

Previously, a message stating “Home Upgrade Available” was found on iOS 16.3 beta. It was the same message which appeared in iOS 16.2 when the new architecture was released and removed later.

It is expected that the “home hub 2 versions 2” will be part of the iOS 16.4 beta which might release in spring because Apple said that the HomePod‘s new Sound Recognition feature will be available in Spring.
