Windows 10 has finally gotten an official launch date by Microsoft which is July 29th, 2015. The release will be for PCs and tablets, while the Windows 10 Mobile release date is yet to be announced.

Windows 10 will ship with brand new and must needed design updates, Cortana personal assistant, Edge (Microsoft’s new browser), new and awesome Xbox, Photos, Music, Videos, Maps, People, Mail and Calendar apps, Continuum, Hello and an updated Windows Store. In case you were not part of the Windows Insider Preview program, you can rest assured that Windows 10 is going to be the best version of Windows that Microsoft has ever made. It fixes on all the shortcomings of Windows 8 and improves every nook and corner of the operating system, which will be optimised properly for both desktop and mobile.

Microsoft has posted on their blog that users would be able to get the free upgrade by reserving it. There’s a process laid out on the upgrade page, as below:

A small Windows icon will be found on the taskbar for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users. Once you see it, click the “Reserve your free upgrade” option in the pop up. Enter your email to sign up for confirmation notification, although this is not mandatory. That’s all. Once the upgrade is available, you will get a notification via Windows Update.
