Automatic Password Fixes Relied on Apple Intelligence and Safari
The Passwords app feature was designed to spot weak or compromised passwords and update them on affected websites without the user doing the legwork. Apple had described it as using Apple Intelligence and Safari to act “agentically” on the user’s behalf. This was one of the unique AI based features that Apple announced at WWDC 2026, but now that it’s been postponed, it’ll be interesting to see when it is released and how it will work in real world usage.
Signs of the cut showed up before Apple made it official. Reddit users flagged that the automatic password change option was missing in iOS 27 beta 5, weeks before Apple updated its site to confirm the removal.
The Change Extends Beyond iPhone
Apple’s website update wasn’t limited to iOS 27. The same language now applies to iPadOS 27 and macOS 27, meaning the features are delayed across the board rather than held back for iPhone alone.
