Apple Music announced new Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio to the entire catalog in June. At the time of the Hi-Fi and surround sound features, Apple Music subscribers in India did not receive the option. But recently, a tech enthusiast @Ishan Agarwal 24 shared on Twitter that the features are available in the country on Apple and Android versions of the music streaming app.
Lossless audio is high-fidelity sound in original quality as created by artists in studios and Spatial audio delivers a new immersive experience with sound coming from all around and from above. And now subscribers in India can enjoy it too.

How to enjoy Lossless and Spatial audio on Apple Music
By default, Apple Music plays Dolby Atmos songs on all AirPods and Beats headphones with an H1 or W1 chip and the built-in speakers in the latest versions of iPhone, iPad, and Mac models. To listen to Lossless audio users will need to update their iPhone and iPad to iOS 14.6 or later.
- They will require a wired connection to headphones, receivers, or powered speakers.
- The built-in speakers.
- To listen to songs at sample rates higher than 48 kHz, you need an external digital-to-analog converter.
As per Apple’s support page, follow the mentioned steps to enable Lossless audio:
- Go to Settings > Music.
- Tap Audio Quality.
- Tap Lossless to turn it on or off. From here, you can choose the audio quality for streaming and downloading audio.
- Lossless for a maximum resolution of 24-bit/48 kHz
- Hi-Res Lossless for a maximum resolution of 24-bit/192 kHz
