After inking successful deals with producers, actors, and hosts, Apple TV+ has signed on another renowned name, the filmmaker Martin Scorsese. According to Deadline, the Scorsese’s production house, Sikelia Productions, will make exclusive movies and television shows for the video streaming service over several years.
This deal is finalized only two and half months after Scorsese come on board to produce the new ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ movie which is an adaption of David Grann’s non-fiction book written by Eric Roth. Heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio and legendary actor, Robert De Niro will star in the upcoming film.
Martin Scorsese
Known as one of the most influential figures in the American film industry, Martin Charles Scorsese is a producer, director, actor, and screenwriter. His movies encapsulate violence, crime, guilt, and the dark side of humanity. He won the Academy Award for best director for the movie, ‘The Departed’.
Previously, Scorsese has worked with De Niro and DiCaprio on blockbusters like the Taxi Driver, The Irishman, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Departed, and others. Thus, his partnership with Apple might prove to be beneficial for the streaming service to attract subscribers by offering good quality cinema.
Apple TV+
Launched on November 1, 2019, Apple TV+ is a video streaming service designed to offer all original content unlike competing services like Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Apple TV+ is the home of Apple Originals from the world’s greatest storytellers, including “The Morning Show,” “Dickinson,” “For All Mankind,” “See” and “Servant.” Apple TV+ made history as the first streaming platform to receive multiple Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations in its launch year, and is the first and only streaming service to debut instantly in over 100 countries and regions.
2019 was a landmark year for Apple services, and the company is working to grow that division further so subscribers can expect many new titles on the service. In 2020 Apple has released new movies, shows and signed on many big names to offer more exclusive content. The service will premier the following titles:
- Emancipation
- Snow Blind
- Palmer
- Sharper
- The Sky is Everywhere
- On the Rocks
Apple TV+ is available for $4.99 per month via Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Apple TV. It is also compatible with third party TV sets like LG smart TV, selected Samsung TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku devices. Users can also access the service on tv.apple.com.
