The Brim Safari extension costs $0.89 and stretches web pages across the full outer display of the iPhone Duo, under Safari’s side controls. Other iPhones gain nothing from the extension, since Safari already uses the full width there. The extension targets the outer display layout in Safari, where the page stops short of the controls that sit on the side of the screen.
The Brim Safari extension runs phone-width pages across the whole outer display
Brim extends phone-width pages across the full screen, under Safari’s side controls. Links and buttons that would fall under those controls move back into reach, so you can still tap them.
Fixed headers and tab bars can run their color to the edge of the screen while their contents stay clear of the controls. Desktop-width pages display as usual, and an optional blur sits under the controls. You choose Wide or Off from Safari’s page menu, the choice applies across sites and tabs, and one tap leaves any single site as Safari shows it.
Safari 27.1 fills the outer display’s side area with a background color
On the outer display, iOS moves the Safari controls to the side to give web content more vertical space. In Safari 27.1, the page does not extend into that side area, and Safari fills it with the page’s background color.
The outer display is wider and shorter than other iPhone displays, and websites see a viewport as narrow as 382 CSS pixels in portrait. Across every pose the width runs from 382 to 951 CSS pixels, with the outer display at 594 in landscape. WebKit says it is researching a more foolproof way to let pages use the side area than the viewport-fit cover setting, which needs developers to inset all four edges correctly.
If you would rather not install anything, two iPhone Duo display settings can give pages more room, including Safari page zoom at 85 percent.
Setup takes three steps. You open Settings, then Apps, Safari, Extensions and Brim, turn on Allow Extension and set All Websites to Allow. Then you open the page menu in Safari, choose Brim and pick Wide. The developer says Brim adjusts layouts on your iPhone and never reads or sends what you browse, with no account, no analytics and no network requests.
Brim is a 786.4 KB download that requires iOS 26.0 or later, and the app is separate from the Brim browser beta that João Pozzobon built. The free Wider Safari extension also lets pages run full width without switching browsers.
