At the “Peek Performance” event, the Cupertino tech has unveiled the new iPad Air 5 with a powerful M1 chip, 5G network support, a new front camera with the Center Stage feature, and much more. The company calls it the most “powerful and versatile” iPad Air ever. Here are all the new features available on the new model.
Here is everything new in the latest iPad Air 5
The new iPad Air model is powered by the M1 chip to deliver a massive leap in performance and incredible battery life. With an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU, the new model delivers 60% faster processing performance and 2x faster graphics performance than its predecessor. In addition, with a 16-core Neural Engine, users will be able to edit 4K videos, play graphic-intensive games, and much more on the new model.
For the first time, an iPad Air model supports 5G advanced connectivity so that users can enjoy peak speeds up to 3.5Gbps, in ideal conditions, to quickly access files, watch movies, and more. And with the new 2x faster USB-C port, users can transfer data up to 10Gbps and connect to accessories, cameras, external display with 6K resolution, and more.
Design and Display
Continuing with the same thin and flat edge-to-edge design of 2020 iPad Air, the new iPad Air 5 also features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, landscape stereo speakers, Touch ID built into the top button, and supports Apple Pencil (2nd generation), Magic Keyboard, Smart Keyboard Folio, and Smart Folio covers (in matching color options).
Apple has equipped the new iPad Air 5 model with a new Ultra Wide 12 megapixel front camera which supports the Center Stage feature so that users do not have to worry about being out of frame during FaceTime calls.
The 12 MP wide camera on the back of the device allows users to record 4K videos, capture sharp photos, enjoy the AR experience, and more. “An end-to-end solution for photo and video capture, editing, and sharing, iPad Air is an incredibly versatile and ultra-portable mobile studio.”
