The 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max has been crowned as one of the best smartphones of 2021, according to Consumer Reports. Additionally, the report dubs iPhone 12 Pro Max as the best iPhone to buy. Apple’s critically acclaimed iPhone 12 Pro Max, launched in October 2020, earned one of the top spots on the 2021 best smartphones list because of its A14 chipset, sharp OLED display, upgraded cameras, 5G connectivity, and more.

iPhone 12 Pro Max received the label of best iPhone of the year due to its sharp display, improved battery life and, upgraded cameras. The report notes that the addition of 5G connectivity to iPhone 12 finally makes it a worthy competitor of most flagship and several mid-range Androids with 5G hardware.
“Apple’s latest super-sized flagship phone features a faster processor, a super-sharp OLED display, top-notch cameras, and, for the first time, 5G connectivity.
That last factor eliminates a once-prominent shortfall for Apple, allowing the 12 Pro Max to go toe-to-toe with high-end as well as certain moderately priced Android phones with 5G hardware.
And it gives iPhone users an incentive, after a few years of largely incremental improvements, to upgrade their phones.
While the 12 Pro Max will cost you $100 more than its smaller sibling, the 12 Pro, it packs in several more hours of battery life, a slightly larger display, and a 2.5x zoom camera that gets you just a hair closer to the action than the 12 Pro’s 2x camera.”
The publication does not mention that iPhone 12 Pro Max is heavier and larger than other iPhone 12 models which tends to make it harder to use one-handed for users with smaller hands. For consumers who do not like bulky phones, Consumer Reports suggests they may be happier with iPhone 12 Pro which certainly packs a punch in a smaller form factor.
On the flip side, the Max version is significantly heavier and can be tough to use one-handed, even for people with long fingers. If you’re wary of bulky phones, you might be happier with the 12 Pro.”
Other top smartphones in the unranked list include the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G which was crowned Best Android Phone. The OnePlus Nord N10 5G was also included in the list as the Best Budget Phone.
