The new iPhone 13 series is expected to launch in September and as industry practice, sources share a list of alleged features in the upcoming smartphone models. Renowned Apple leaker, Ming-Chi Kuo reports that the iPhone 13 Pro models will come with an improved ultra-wide camera with auto-focus capability, in oppose to the fixed-focus feature in the current iPhone 12 Pro models.
Other reports claim that the new smartphone series will be available in four models as the iPhone 12 series, despite disappointing sales of the 5.4-inch mini model. And Apple will ship the entire series with LiDAR scanner, which is currently used in iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max models, only.
iPhone 13 Pro models will have an ultra-wide camera with auto-focus which will be extended across iPhone 14 series in 2022
Auto-focus capability on an ultra-wide camera will allow users to take macro shots without a dedicated macro camera. This will let them take clear close-up photos without relying on a 2MP macro sensor. Kuo’s investors note obtained by MacRumors details that the new autofocus feature in the ultra-wide lens will improve photos quality by making their “crisper” and “sharper”.
Compared to the current fixed-focus lens on the ultra-wide camera on the iPhone 12 lineup, autofocus on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max will help deliver crisper and sharper images, regardless of the distance a specific subject is from the lens. Kuo has previously stated that the iPhone 13 will feature several other camera improvements, including improved low-light performance.
In addition, Kuo claimed that the autofocus feature will available across iPhone 14 series expected in the subsequent year.
Looking more long-term, Kuo today shared additional information on the iPhone 14, destined for 2022. According to Kuo, while autofocus on the iPhone 13 ultra-wide camera will be limited to the high-end Pro models only, Apple plans to expand autofocus for the ultra-wide camera to all four models of the iPhone 14 lineup.
Reviewers have praised the advanced camera system of the iPhone 12 Pro models. So, an even improved camera system in the upcoming iPhone series will definitely elevate the photography, videography, and video calling experience.
