iPhone 14 Pro tidbits: thickness, brighter display, autofocus, 4K Cinematic mode, Emergency SOS via satellite cost and more

The latest iPhone Pro lineup includes a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. At the launch event, Apple highlighted the models’ prominent features like a new processor, camera system, display, and others. Here is a list of additional information about new Pro models.

    • 0.31-inch (7.85 mm) which is 0.20mm more than iPhone 13 Pro models’ 0.30-inch (7.65 mm) thickness.
  • A16 Bionic chip
    • 4nm process for higher performance and power efficiency. It uses 20% lower power than the A15 Bionic chip in iPhone 13 Pro, the fastest chip ever in a smartphone.
    • 5-core GPU has 50% more memory bandwidth.
    • Display Engine enables a 1Hz refresh rate, Always-On capability, higher peak brightness, and advanced anti-aliasing that makes Dynamic Island’s animations smooth.
    • Image signal processor to deliver the most powerful Pro camera system in an iPhone 14 Pro.

    • No Wi-Fi 6E support.
    • 5G mmWave no expanded beyond the United States.

    • Thinner borders and more active area.
    • Brighter display with a higher pixel resolution at 460 ppi, 1600 nits peak brightness (HDR), and new 2000 nits peak brightness (outdoor) which bring it to the same level as the Pro Display XDR.

  • Emergency SOS via satellite cost
    • The new safety feature will be available in U.S. and Canada starting from November for free for two years. The company has not yet shared its cost beyond that.
  • SIM cards
      • In the United States, the new iPhone 14 Pros only come with dual eSIMs models without support for physical SIM cards.
      • In the rest of the world, the new iPhone 14 Pros come with dual SIM (nano-SIM and eSIM) and dual eSIM support.

iPhone 14 Pro will be available for pre-order today at 5:00 a.m. PDT at Apple.com with shipping starting from September 23.
