With iPhone 18 Pro colors circulating in two noticeably different shades of red, Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital has stepped in to confirm which one is accurate: the darker, more purplish version, not the lighter and brighter alternative that has appeared across much of the leak community’s output.
The clarification was posted on August 10, with Fixed Focus Digital describing the correct shade as closer to a purplish red similar to an actual cherry, according to the original Weibo post. Apple reportedly uses Pantone code 6076 internally for the color, described as a deep, wine-like red.
Months of Render Disagreement, Now Narrowed Down
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman first described the color as a deep red in February, and Macworld followed in April with more specifics about the “Dark Cherry” name and its wine-like tone. Since then, dummy models shared by leaker Sonny Dickson in May showed iPhone 18 Pro Max in Dark Cherry alongside Light Blue, Black, and Silver, and a lens protector plate image from Ice Universe in June offered another look.
Render artists working from multiple sources ended up with two meaningfully different interpretations of how saturated and light the color should be, and both versions spread widely enough that some buyers may already be forming expectations around the lighter, brighter one.
Fixed Focus Digital’s post appears aimed directly at settling that dispute before Apple’s September announcement.
Dark Cherry Replaces Cosmic Orange as the Pro Lineup’s Signature Shade
For the iPhone 18 Pro color lineup, the confirmed options are expected to be:
- Dark Cherry
- Light Blue
- Dark Gray
- Silver
Dark Cherry is filling the role Cosmic Orange held for iPhone 17 Pro, Apple’s headline color for that generation, which sold well. Sonny Dickson noted that “Cherry will probably be the next hit, orange did very well,” and the strategic logic is clear: Apple picks one bold color per cycle to anchor the Pro line’s visual identity.
Apple is expected to unveil iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max next month alongside its first foldable iPhone.
