The iPhone 18 Pro supports Apple’s fastest wired charging yet, reaching 50% battery in about 15 minutes when paired with the right power adapter and USB-C cable. That makes it roughly five minutes faster to reach the same level than the iPhone 17 Pro.
Getting the maximum charging speed requires more than simply using a high-wattage charger. Apple’s fastest charging setup depends on a 60W USB Power Delivery adapter with Adjustable Voltage Supply, along with a USB-C cable.
What You Need For Maximum Charging Speed
Apple’s fastest charging requirements for the iPhone 18 Pro are:
- A USB PD 3.1 power adapter
- Support for Adjustable Voltage Supply
- Up to 60W output
- A USB-C charging cable
Apple’s new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter is designed to meet these requirements. Although the adapter is rated at 40W, it can deliver up to 60W when additional power is needed.
A higher-wattage MacBook charger does not automatically provide the same charging performance. Some chargers rated at 96W or 140W do not include the Adjustable Voltage Supply feature required for the iPhone 18 Pro’s maximum charging rate.
The USB-C cable also matters, but you do not need a special proprietary cable. The cable included with the iPhone 18 Pro can be used for wired charging.
How To Fast Charge iPhone 18 Pro
- Connect a compatible USB-C cable to your iPhone 18 Pro.
- Connect the other end to a USB PD 3.1 power adapter that supports Adjustable Voltage Supply.
- Use a charger capable of delivering the required power, with Apple’s 40W Dynamic Power Adapter supporting up to 60W output.
- Connect the adapter to a power outlet and leave the iPhone connected while it charges.
With the maximum-speed setup, Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro can reach approximately 50% charge from empty in 15 minutes. A five-minute charge can also provide around six hours of video playback, making a short top-up useful when you need extra battery quickly.
Third-party chargers rated above 40W may also provide fast charging, but their performance can vary depending on their charging standards and power delivery features. A compatible 45W USB-C charger, for example, may still offer very fast charging without reaching the iPhone 18 Pro’s maximum 15-minute result.
iPhone 18 Pro Also Supports Faster MagSafe Charging
The iPhone 18 Pro can reach around 50% in 30 minutes when using MagSafe with a 35W power adapter.
That is slower than the fastest wired charging option, but it can be more convenient when you want to charge without connecting a cable. For the absolute fastest top-up, wired USB-C charging remains the better option.
Apple does not include a power adapter in the iPhone 18 Pro box. The package includes a USB-C cable, so you will need to use an existing compatible power adapter or purchase one separately.
The iPhone 18 Pro is available for preorder September 12, with the first units arriving September 18. The same faster charging capability will also be available on Apple’s upcoming iPhone Duo when it launches next month, provided the required charging accessories are used.
