Apple has reportedly raised its iPhone Duo orders by 30% while moving some iPhone 18 Pro production over to the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The total order volume for the iPhone 18 Pro series has not changed, and the iPhone Duo total is still expected to stay under 10 million units.

The details come from a Securities Times exclusive published on October 10, which cites a source in Apple’s supply chain. The Chinese financial publication describes the change as a structural adjustment to Apple’s fall 2026 iPhone orders.
The iPhone Duo Gets a 30% Order Bump but Stays Under 10 Million Units
The extra 30% applies to the iPhone Duo orders Apple had already placed. The report does not give the starting figure, so all that is known about the new total is that it sits below 10 million units.
That ceiling fits what other reports say about supply. Counterpoint expects Apple to sell 6 million iPhone Duo units in 2026, and an earlier report put iPhone Duo yield at Foxconn in the 60 percent range. Apple is also preparing big store displays for the launch even though supply is expected to stay tight.
Yield and assembly capacity still set how many iPhone Duo units are available on day one, whatever Apple orders.
Apple Is Moving Orders from the iPhone 18 Pro to the iPhone 18 Pro Max
The report breaks the adjustment into four parts:
- iPhone Duo orders are up 30%, with the total still under 10 million units.
- iPhone 18 Pro orders are down 10% to 15%.
- iPhone 18 Pro Max orders are up 10% to 15%.
- The combined iPhone 18 Pro series total is unchanged.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299, so the shift moves volume toward the more expensive model. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is also the model whose pre-orders slipped into October at launch.
This report does not match an earlier one. That earlier report said Apple had cut iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max orders by at least 15% as demand softened. The new one has the iPhone 18 Pro down 10% to 15% and the iPhone 18 Pro Max up by the same range.
Both rely on unnamed supply chain sources, and the two have not been reconciled.
A Richer Mix Is Good News for Apple’s Suppliers
The source told Securities Times that sales are tilting toward higher-value products, which should help the earnings of companies in Apple’s supply chain. The math is simple at base prices. With the iPhone 18 Pro series total unchanged, every phone moved from the iPhone 18 Pro to the iPhone 18 Pro Max sells for $100 more.
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, which is $700 above the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Every extra iPhone Duo adds more to that mix than either Pro model does.
iPhone Duo pre-orders open at 5 a.m. Pacific on October 16, and the phone goes on sale on October 23. The iPhone Duo Get Ready program starts today, October 12.
