MacWhisper 15.2 adds real-time meeting transcripts to the Mac transcription app, so users can follow a live transcript while a call is still running. The update also brings better speaker recognition, a new transcription model and deeper links to Siri and Apple Intelligence on macOS 27.
Indie developer Jordi Bruin launched MacWhisper in 2023, and it was one of the first AI transcription tools built for the Mac. Since then it has added automatic meeting recording, speaker recognition, watched folders, system-wide dictation, local and cloud AI models, and integrations with Notion, Zapier, Obsidian and n8n.
Live Transcripts Float Above Your Other Apps
Real-time meeting transcription had been sitting near the top of MacWhisper’s public roadmap for a while. In version 15.2, users can follow a live transcript, refer back to earlier lines, copy text or move the transcript elsewhere while the meeting is still going. The window can stay above other apps, and the recording and transcript are saved when the meeting ends.
Speaker recognition got the biggest rewrite. It now runs on NVIDIA’s Nemotron 3 Diarization model, which NVIDIA announced just hours before the MacWhisper update. Diarization is the step that labels who said what, so a transcript reads as a conversation instead of one long block of text. The model supports up to eight speakers and can also be used during live meetings in the new realtime view.

MacWhisper Now Plugs Into Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts
On macOS 27 Golden Gate, MacWhisper 15.2 ties into Apple Intelligence, Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts. The integration also works in the EU, and it adds four abilities. You can:
- Search for transcripts system-wide
- Open a transcript with Siri
- Pull transcript text into Shortcuts
- Refer to the transcript currently on screen in Siri or Apple Intelligence requests
That last option means a transcript can be open on screen while a Siri or Apple Intelligence request points at it, which is useful when a meeting needs a quick summary or a list of action items.
The update also adds Alibaba’s Qwen3-ASR transcription model, which supports 22 languages and joins the local and cloud models MacWhisper already offers. Transcripts and meetings can now be sorted into folders and subfolders, and existing transcriptions can be dragged in from the sidebar.
MacWhisper is available as a free version, as well as a Pro version that adds automatic speaker recognition, YouTube and podcasts transcription, batch transcription, auto cleanup, and transcript translation for $69 one-time purchase.
