Post Club Turns the iPhone Duo into a Little Typewriter

Post Club is a $4.99 typewriter app for the iPhone Duo that asks you to fold the phone halfway before you start typing. You open the iPhone Duo to browse your letters and pick a machine, fold it halfway to write, and close it to return to your letters.

Small Trail Studio released Post Club on the App Store on November 3. A typewriter fits the skeuomorphic design that iPhone Duo apps have been bringing back.

Post Club turns the half-folded iPhone Duo into a typewriter

You pick a typewriter, load a sheet of paper and write at your own pace. The app suits short personal letters, such as a birthday wish, a thank-you or a just-because hello.

You can type on the little machine or edit with the iPhone keyboard. Closing the iPhone Duo takes you back to your letters.

Post Club is not the only app that treats the half-folded phone like a laptop. Tiny Computers puts ten retro machines above a working keyboard in tabletop mode, so both apps use the half-folded position for typing.

Developers we spoke to for our skeuomorphic design story said the hinge made the iPhone Duo feel like a physical object. A half-folded phone that holds a typewriter fits that idea.

You write one-page letters and send them as images

Each letter fits on a single page. When you finish, you pull the sheet out of the machine and add a signature or a little drawing, and a visual gallery lets you flip through every letter you have written.

You can send a finished letter through Messages, Mail or your favorite sharing app, or save it to Photos as an image. iCloud keeps your letters together across your devices.

Each letter remembers its writing environment, so a letter you wrote beside the crackling fire opens beside the fire again.

Post Club is a one-time $4.99 purchase with no subscription

Everything in the app comes with the purchase, with no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.

  • 10 typewriters, each with its own look, typeface and sound of clicks and clacks
  • 14 paper styles, from simple sheets to illustrated favorites
  • Optional birdsong, a crackling fire or a purring cat to write beside

Small Trail Studio also makes Scratchbook, a keepsake collection of all 64 national parks in the United States, and Another Cup?, a coffee and tea diary.

You need iOS 26.0 or later and 151.6 MB of free space. The app has a 4+ age rating.
