Fold Match is a $2.99 shape puzzle for the iPhone Duo where you line up a shape on one half of the screen and fold the phone to see how close you got. Version 1.1 made the game playable on any iPhone with iOS 27.1, where you tap Fold and the page turns over by itself.
Developer Ian Robbie Kehayes released the iPhone-only game on the App Store. The game is one of several iPhone Duo apps that use the hinge as a control, like Duometry, a game where you match a target angle with the hinge.
Fold Match puts a target on one side of the screen and your shape on the other
Each level shows a target shape on one side of the screen and your shape on the other. You move your shape to the spot where the target will land when the two halves meet, then fold the phone on an iPhone Duo or turn the page on any other iPhone. Closing an iPhone Duo shows the outside screen with where your shape ended up.
You earn up to three stars depending on how close you got. Other iPhones show the same result when you tap Fold, and the page turns over by itself so you can watch your shape land on the target. Version 1.1 also sized the shapes and screens for regular iPhones and tidied the rounds, since the tutorial now explains the instructions.
Three difficulty levels bring 50 levels each and shapes up to a paper crane
Easy levels only ask you to move the shape, Medium adds turning it and Hard adds resizing it as well. Each tier has 50 levels, which makes 150 in all, and earning stars opens new ones. New shapes appear as you go, from simple ones at the start to a fox, a fish and a paper crane later on.
Any shape you have met can be replayed in Practice with nothing riding on it. You can ask for a hint line when you get stuck, and a grid is available if you are willing to give up a star. The first time you open the game, a short tutorial walks you through your first fold.
Fold Match costs $2.99 with no ads, accounts or tracking
Your progress is saved on your phone and in your own iCloud. Game Center adds 13 achievements and a leaderboard for your total stars, and anything you earned before version 1.1 counts the first time you open the game.
Fold Match is a 3.7 MB iPhone-only download that requires iOS 27.1 or later. The game is in English and carries a 4+ age rating, and the app plays best on an iPhone Duo.
