Just installed iOS 27? Don’t stop at the update screen. There are plenty of improvements that won’t be obvious until you actively try them.
Before settling back into your normal routine, spend a few minutes exploring what has changed. From having a real conversation with Siri AI to searching your photo library in new ways, customizing the new interface, and trying Apple’s latest app features, these are 10 things worth doing after installing iOS 27.
1. Customize The Liquid Glass Look
Liquid Glass gives iOS 27 a noticeably different appearance, and Apple adds more control over how the interface looks and feels.
Go through your Lock Screen, Home Screen, Control Center, and frequently used apps to see how the new design affects your daily experience. Try the available appearance options and choose the look that feels most comfortable to you.

2. Try The New Siri AI
Don’t limit the redesigned Siri to commands such as setting alarms or starting timers. iOS 27 gives Siri AI a more conversational experience with support for follow-up questions, personal context, onscreen awareness, and more complex requests.
Ask Siri a question, follow up with another question without repeating the context, or ask about something currently displayed on your iPhone. You can also experiment with requests that require Siri to work with information across supported apps.
Some of the most advanced Siri AI capabilities depend on your iPhone model, language, region, and the iOS 27 version you’re running.
3. Explore Apple Intelligence

4. Try The New Photos Features
Photos gets several changes in iOS 27, making this one of the first apps worth exploring after the update.
Try searching your library using natural language instead of simple keywords. You can also experiment with the updated organization, ratings, and AI-powered editing features to see how they work with your existing photos.
If you have a large photo library, this is also a good opportunity to clean up old screenshots, duplicates, and photos you no longer need.

Open Wallet and check your existing boarding passes, loyalty cards, memberships, and other passes. Depending on your region and supported services, you may also be able to create a digital pass from a physical pass using your iPhone’s camera and Apple Intelligence.
Wallet also gets richer information for supported passes, making it worth checking even if you haven’t used the app recently.
8. Try The New Apple Music Experience
Apple Music gets several refinements in iOS 27, including an updated AutoMix experience and changes to the way music is presented.
Start a playlist and try AutoMix with different songs to hear the updated transitions. You can also explore the refreshed artist pages and other interface changes.
It’s a small part of the iOS 27 update, but an easy one to experience immediately.
9. Explore The New Accessibility Features
Even if you don’t normally use Apple’s accessibility tools, iOS 27 adds several features that demonstrate how deeply Apple Intelligence is being integrated into the system.
VoiceOver gets an Image Explorer for understanding visual content, Magnifier gains Apple Intelligence capabilities, and Voice Control can understand more natural language. Accessibility Reader can also simplify complex layouts while preserving important formatting.
Many of these features are designed for specific accessibility needs, but they’re worth knowing about because they show how iOS 27 is making the iPhone more capable of understanding what users see and do.
10. Review Your Privacy And Security
After installing a major iOS update, take a quick look at the privacy and security features Apple has added or improved.
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security and review which apps have access to your location, photos, contacts, camera, microphone, and other personal information. You may find that some permissions are no longer necessary.
Also check Settings > General > Software Update to make sure you’re running the latest available iOS 27 version. Apple will continue releasing updates with security fixes, bug fixes, and additional improvements throughout the iOS 27 cycle.
