Third-generation AirPods ready to ship, 12.9-inch iPad Pro will likely have more features than 11-inch model

Kang, a leaker with a solid track record, has said that third-generation AirPods are ready to ship which means that they could be announced as soon as this month, during the rumored March 23 event. He also says that the upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro could outsell the 11-inch model, likely due to exclusive features that will only be available on the larger model. These new details were posted on Chinese social media website Weibo, as spotted by MacRumors.

Third-generation AirPods

Third-generation AirPods are expected to feature the same design as the expensive AirPods Pro, but without active noise cancellation which will help keep the costs low. The new AirPods will not have Silicone ear tips like the Pro models. Like its predecessors, it will likely ship with a non-wireless charging case by default, with the wireless charging case costing extra. It was speculated that Apple might reduce the cost for the new AirPods, but the design updates suggest otherwise.

12.9-inch iPad Pro

It has been widely speculated that Apple will ship the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a mini-LED display, which would a first for any product by the company. Although both new iPad Pro models are expected to feature faster A14X chips, 5G cellular networking, only the 12.9-inch model will be getting the new mini-LED display. It will be interesting to see how Apple keeps the iPad Pro interesting, now that it is shipping MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with M1 chip, which gives them most of the benefits that its tablets provided: long-lasting battery life, amazing thermals, and great performance, with the benefit of actual desktop-class software and operating system.

Kang has a good record with Apple leaks, so we have good reason to believe that these new products might be announced during an event on March 23. He had previously leaked the features for iPhone 12 mini/iPhone 12 Pro Max, and HomePod mini, before their launch.

Jon Prosser had also said back in March that AirTags and iPad Pro will launch in March.
