Apple TV 4K (4th Gen) Gets New tvOS 27.2 Build with Siri AI

Apple has released a new tvOS 27.2 build for the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, which goes on sale November 13. The build reportedly lets the new Apple TV 4K turn on Siri AI, a feature that was gated to internal builds until now.

pdfu posted the finding on X. Siri AI stayed gated after last week’s tvOS 27.2 release, even though Apple says the beta comes with tvOS 27.2 and also covers older Apple TV 4K models.

Siri AI in the tvOS 27.2 build needs an iPhone or iPad

Siri AI is a beta in tvOS 27.2, and the home owner in the Home app needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad on the latest software, with Siri AI turned on and set to a supported language. At launch it supports English in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

On the TV, Siri AI opens full screen, and answers appear in a small overlay so a show keeps playing. Requests can run on the device or in Private Cloud Compute, and personal requests, such as playing a show a friend recommended, draw on the paired iPhone.

Certain Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models have daily usage limits, with expanded access planned for a fee later. Siri AI is not initially available in the EU on iPhone or iPad.

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K adds hands-free Siri and four-speaker surround sound

Three far-field microphones let the new Apple TV 4K hear “Hey Siri” or “Siri” without the remote, even while audio is playing. Hands-free Siri works when the tvOS language is English, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Norwegian, Swedish or Mandarin Chinese.

Four HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers can form a HomePod surround sound setup, as long as the front pair matches and the rear pair matches. The speakers work out where they sit in the room and calibrate audio timing and levels automatically, and older Apple TV models cannot run the setup.

The A19 chip is rated at up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation, and its dedicated AV1 decoder lets streams use less bandwidth. The new Siri Remote adds Find My with Precision Finding, which works with iPhone Duo, iPhone Air or iPhone 17 or later, excluding the iPhone 17e.

The Apple TV 4K (4th generation) costs $299 in the United States, or $49.83 a month for six months through Apple Card Monthly Installments. Pre-orders are open in the United States and 29 other countries and regions, and it reaches stores on Friday, November 13.
