Ulysses has been updated for iOS 27 and macOS 27 with several changes aimed at making the writing app more flexible. The update adds Siri AI support, customizable toolbars, project templates and a refreshed interface.
The release also adds new group icons, accessibility improvements and performance fixes, while bringing Ulysses closer to the design of Apple’s latest operating systems.
Ulysses Adds Siri AI Support
Ulysses now supports the latest Siri AI features, including on-screen awareness. Users can ask Siri to work with content currently visible in Ulysses and use Siri for writing tasks.
On Mac, Ulysses also adds a dedicated toolbar button for Writing Tools and Siri AI. Siri AI can be disabled from Ulysses on macOS if users do not want to use the feature.
Ulysses Gets Customizable Toolbars
On macOS, users can now add, remove and rearrange toolbar items in Ulysses.
The updated default toolbar includes controls for strong and emphasized text, links, paragraph markup, Writing Tools and Siri AI, as well as Open Quickly. Additional toolbar options include fullscreen editing, fixed scrolling and various markup actions.
Project Templates Make New Projects Easier to Start
Ulysses now lets users choose a template when creating a new project. Templates can start a project with sample groups and sheets already in place.
This gives users a predefined structure instead of requiring them to organize a new project from an empty starting point.
Ulysses Adds New Icons And Accessibility Improvements
The update adds new group icons, including pictograms such as a pizza, sparkles and a tram.
Ulysses also improves accessibility when editing filter conditions and group icons, along with navigation using VoiceOver.
The Update Includes Several Performance Fixes
The latest release fixes a number of issues across iOS and macOS.
On iOS, Ulysses fixes performance problems involving the Magic Keyboard with trackpad and improves the display of sheets after they are rearranged. On macOS, the update addresses performance issues with typewriter scrolling and fixes a table layout problem when resizing the editor.
Other fixes address crashes involving daily goals, goal creation and Markdown export, along with an issue where Writing Tools’ proofreading action could insert incorrect content.

The update also refreshes the app’s sidebar, menus and icons to better match Apple’s latest operating systems.
Ulysses has also improved HDR image handling on Mac, performance when finding sheets with Open Quickly and the way sheet contents are passed through Shortcuts.
