Apple Releases macOS Golden Gate 27.2 Public Beta 2 to Testers

Apple has released macOS Golden Gate 27.2 public beta 2, one day after seeding developer beta 3. The update carries build 26B5101f and is open to anyone enrolled in Apple’s public beta program.

It arrives two weeks after the first macOS 27.2 public beta. Apple skipped macOS 27.1 betas entirely and went straight from macOS Golden Gate 27 to macOS Golden Gate 27.2, as covered in our post on macOS Golden Gate 27.2 beta 3. Second public betas of iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, and watchOS 27.2 went out today as well.

macOS Golden Gate 27.2 Public Beta 2 Matches Developer Beta 3 Build for Build

Build 26B5101f is the same one developers received on October 5, so public testers are running identical code a day later. Public beta 1 followed the same pattern, carrying build 26B5091g to match developer beta 2, which Apple released on September 21.

Siri AI now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish alongside English, an expansion Apple promised for October. Our earlier post covers Siri AI in five new languages in more detail.

The change you will see every day is the redesigned volume and brightness sliders. Pressing the keyboard keys now brings up a segmented slider instead of a single smooth bar.

The build also includes the touch gesture code found in Safari, Notes, Photos, and Quick Look. Apple has not said what it is for, and our look at the macOS Golden Gate 27.2 touch gestures explains why it has people asking about a touchscreen MacBook Ultra.

Mac Owners Can Install the Public Beta From System Settings

Enroll your Mac at beta.apple.com with your Apple ID, and the update then shows up in System Settings. The steps take a minute.

  • Open System Settings and click General.
  • Select Software Update.
  • Click the info button next to Beta Updates.
  • Choose the macOS Golden Gate public beta and install the update.

Back up your Mac first, and use a secondary machine if you have one. Anyone who prefers to stay on the release version can read about macOS Golden Gate 27.0.1, and Mac owners dealing with a drained battery have a guide on fixing macOS 27 Golden Gate battery drain.

Apple also seeded the first release candidates of macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 to developers today. macOS Golden Gate 27.2 itself is expected toward the end of October..
