Apple opened public beta testing today for iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, watchOS 27.2, and tvOS 27.2, catching all four platforms up to yesterday’s developer beta 2 build.
The rollout follows last week’s developer betas across Apple’s full lineup, and comes a week and a half after Apple’s major iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27, and tvOS 27 releases on September 14. Apple’s redesigned Health app is also part of this build, arriving on iPad alongside iPhone.
iPadOS 27.2 Adds Apple TV Profiles and a Feature Borrowed From the Mac
Apple TV app profiles, previously covered when they arrived on iPhone, now come to iPad too, giving parents a separate viewing profile for their kids instead of one shared account. iPadOS 27.2 also carries over a Siri AI feature that was previously exclusive to macOS Golden Gate, and Siri AI itself expands to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish across both platforms.
macOS Golden Gate 27.2 Brings Redesigned Volume and Brightness Sliders
macOS Golden Gate 27.2 reached public beta on the same day, matching its own developer beta 2. The build carries over the redesigned volume and brightness sliders Apple introduced in developer testing, along with Apple Music countdown timers for upcoming album releases, a feature shared with iOS 27.2.
watchOS 27.2 and tvOS 27.2 Round Out Today’s Rollout
watchOS 27.2 and tvOS 27.2 share the same build number as their iPhone, iPad, and Mac counterparts, and public testers can now install both. Apple has been iterating on watchOS 27.2’s app switcher gesture across recent developer betas, and that work carries into this public build.
All of today’s public betas can be installed from Software Update on iPhone and iPad, or System Settings on Mac, for anyone already opted into Apple’s beta program. If you are not opted in, you can do so by registering with the Apple Public Beta Software program with your Apple ID.
An official release is expected in October across every platform.
