Apple has released the second public beta of iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, which arrives a day after iOS 27.2 beta 3 went to developers. Anyone enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program can install it now, and the redesigned Health app and Siri AI in new languages remain the main reasons to try it.
Apple’s release notes for iOS and iPadOS 27.2 list the known issues for the beta 3 build, and they are covered below. The first public beta arrived on September 23, so testers waited about two weeks for this one. Apple also released second public betas of macOS Golden Gate 27.2, watchOS 27.2, and tvOS 27.2 alongside it.
The Redesigned Health App and Siri AI Languages Are Still the Headline Features
The Health app Apple showed at its September iPhone event is built into iOS 27.2. It has new Insights and Longevity tabs, plus a Health Age feature that compares your fitness age with your actual age. Our guide on how to try the redesigned Health app walks through each tab.
Siri AI adds five new languages, which are French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Apple has said they arrive in October. The Apple TV app also gets profiles on iPhone for the first time, Group FaceTime gains a dual capture mode, and Apple Podcasts renames Up Next to New Episodes.
Developers digging through iOS 27.2 beta 3 also found the new Apple Music logo and code for granular Suggested Actions controls in Messages. Apple has not announced either one, so treat both as unconfirmed for the public build.
Apple’s Release Notes Warn About Three Known Issues Before You Install
Apple’s notes for iOS and iPadOS 27.2 beta 3 are short, but three items matter to everyday users.
- Personalized summaries may not generate as expected in the Health app’s Insights tab.
- Describe a Shortcut might fail with the error “Something went wrong. Try again later.”
- Anyone with an upcoming Quest lab appointment should wait to update until the results arrive. Lab results also appear under Browse, then Lab Results.
Anyone not yet enrolled can sign up on Apple’s Beta Software Program site, which also points testers to the Feedback Assistant app for sending bug reports. Back up your iPhone or iPad first, then install the update.
- Open Settings, then General, then Software Update.
- Tap Beta Updates and select iOS 27 Public Beta or iPadOS 27 Public Beta.
- Go back and install the update when it appears.
Apple has not announced a release date for iOS 27.2. The iPhone Duo goes on sale on October 23 with iOS 27.1, and iOS 27.2 is expected to follow soon after.
