Apple has released iOS 27.2 beta 2 and iPadOS 27.2 beta 2 to developers. The update arrives one week after the first iOS 27.2 beta 1, which went out on September 16, two days after iOS 27 launched to the public.
Apple skipped iOS 27.1 betas entirely because that version is reserved for the iPhone Duo.
The redesigned Health app is still the main reason to test iOS 27.2
The iOS 27.2 beta includes the Health app Apple showed at its September iPhone event. It is organized into three tabs called Insights, Longevity, and Browse:
- Insights shows recent vitals, sleep score, heart rate, and Activity Rings.
- Longevity shows a Health Age calculated from activity level, VO2 max, sleep time, and other metrics.
- Camera-based assessments on iPhone measure flexibility, strength, balance, and VO2 max.
- Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 owners get a readiness score.
The redesigned Health app is available in U.S. English only. Apple’s iOS and iPadOS 27.2 beta release notes also list a known issue where personalized summaries may not generate in the Insights tab.
Beta 1 already added Siri AI in five languages and a handful of smaller changes
Siri AI in new languages is part of iOS 27.2, and the first beta added several other changes worth testing. Here is what beta 1 brought to iPhone and iPad.
- Siri AI in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, as detailed in our post on Siri AI expanding to five new languages.
- Apple TV app profiles on iPhone and iPad, which arrived on iPhone for the first time.
- CarPlay Ultra themes with wallpaper, gauge style, and color options.
- Anniversary reminders in Call Context, shown in the Phone app when you call a contact with an anniversary set.
- A renamed Excluded Apps setting in Siri that lets you add multiple apps at once.
- An alternative App Tracking Transparency prompt for the EU, required in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania.
iPadOS 27.2 beta 1 also brought Siri AI’s lightweight interface to iPad.
How to install iOS 27.2 beta 2 and when the public release is due
Registered developers can download the beta on iPhone or iPad from Settings. A free developer account is needed to get the beta.
- Open Settings, then General, then Software Update.
- Opt in to the beta and select the iOS 27 developer beta.
- Download and install the update.
Apple has not announced a public release date for iOS 27.2. Because the new Siri AI languages arrive in October, the update is expected to launch sometime this month.
