Apple seeds watchOS 7.3.1 for Apple Watch Series 5 and SE with Power Reserve bug fix

watchOS 7.3.1 is now available to the public. Apple has released the latest update with a bug fix for Apple Watch Series 5 and Apple Watch SE. The update is exclusively seeded to resolve the charging issue related to Power Reserve feature in the aforementioned models.

Recently, Apple released watchOS 7.3 with a new Unity watch face, Time to Walk for Apple Fitness+ subscribers, ECG support expanded in Japan, Mayotte, Philippines, and Thailand, and a bug fix for the zoom accessibility feature.

Apple watchOS 7.3.1 resolves Power Reserve issue

The release notes read:

watchOS 7.3.1 addresses an issue that prevented some Apple Watch Series 5 and Apple Watch SE devices from charging after entering Power Reserve.

Housed in the Control Center of the Apple Watch, Power Reserve mode allows users to prolong the battery life when if it is not possible to charge the smartwatch.

Power Reserve lets you see the time on your Apple Watch while preserving your battery life. While your Apple Watch is in Power Reserve, press the side button to show the current time. In Power Reserve, your Apple Watch and iPhone won’t communicate, and you can’t access other watch features.- Apple

When the battery charge drops to 10%, the user is notified automatically via a prompt either to enable the feature or dismiss the suggestion. It’s very easy to enable and disable the feature:

  1. Swipe up on the watch face to access the Control Center.
  2. In the menu, tap on the battery percentage.
  3. Swipe the ‘Power Reserve’ slider to enable or disable the feature. Learn more about the feature here.

If you own the Apple Watch 5 or SE and are experiencing the issue, then you can easily install the latest watchOS 7.3.1 update on your Apple Watch. Simply, go to the Watch app on your paired iPhone, and tap on Settings app > General > Software Update to download and install the update. Make sure that your Apple Watch has at least 50% battery and is placed on its charger throughout the update process. You might also need to enter the PIN code on your watch to proceed with the installation.
