The OLED iPad mini wallpapers are here, and you can download both in full resolution below. They are called Cobalt and Ember, and they work on any iPad, not only the new one.
Cobalt and Ember Pair Glowing Ribbons With Near-Black Backgrounds
Cobalt moves from icy cyan at the top to deep violet at the bottom, while Ember starts at coral red and fades through orange into golden yellow.
Both use the same artwork, with thick, translucent ribbons that loop down the screen and two small spheres along the left edge.
The backgrounds are near-black, which suits an OLED panel. The Super Retina XDR display lights each pixel individually, peaks at 1200 nits for HDR content and has a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, so bright ribbons on a dark field are the kind of image it shows off best.

Save both if you like to switch things up. Each one can be added as its own Lock Screen, so changing between them later takes a press and hold on the Lock Screen.
Setting Cobalt or Ember Takes Four Steps
- Open the Cobalt or Ember image above, press and hold it, then tap Save to Photos.
- Go to Settings > Wallpaper > Add New Wallpaper, then tap Photos. You can also press and hold the Lock Screen and tap the + button.
- Select the saved wallpaper and pinch or drag to adjust the crop.
- Tap Add, then choose the Lock Screen, the Home Screen or both.
Both are static images, like the downloads of the iPadOS 27 Celosia wallpapers, so they will not animate or switch with Light and Dark Mode. An iPhone screen is taller than these files, so expect to crop the sides if you use one there.
iPadOS 27 adds a Liquid Glass slider in Settings that runs from ultraclear to fully tinted, so it is worth checking how Cobalt and Ember look at each end of it before you settle on one.
The OLED iPad mini starts at $699 for the Wi-Fi model and comes in midnight and starlight. Pre-orders open Wednesday, October 28, and deliveries begin Friday, November 6.
