Apple has released iPadOS 27.2, and the Apple TV app on the iPad now has profiles, so everyone who shares one can keep a separate viewing history. Siri AI also gains French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, and the redesigned Health app is not part of the update.
The update also adds a Siri pop-up for selected text. It carries the same build as iOS 27.2, skips iPadOS 27.1 and runs on the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation and later), iPad Air (4th generation and later), iPad (9th generation and later) and iPad mini (6th generation and later). Install it from Settings, then General, then Software Update.
The Apple TV app gets profiles on the iPad
Profiles have been on the Apple TV for a few years, and tvOS 26.2 let people create them without an Apple Account. iPadOS 27.2 brings the same profiles to the TV app, matching the profiles on the iPhone.
A new profile needs a name, an icon and a yes or no on whether it belongs to a child. Each person who shares an iPad gets a separate viewing history, and the TV app opens with a profile selection screen.
Siri AI gets a pop-up for selected text and five new languages
The Siri pop-up first appeared on the Mac in macOS Golden Gate. In iPadOS 27.2, selecting text with a mouse or trackpad shows a Siri icon beside the selection, and hovering over it opens an Ask Siri field. Without a pointer, selecting text still opens the edit menu, where you can tap to open Siri.
Text with an address, contact information or a phone number also gets quick actions such as Message, Add to Contacts and Open in Maps. The floating Siri bar needs Siri AI, which runs on an iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, meaning one with an M1 chip or later or the iPad mini with A17 Pro. Older iPads do not get it.
Siri AI launched with iPadOS 27 in English only. iPadOS 27.2 adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, and it is not available in the EU on the iPad at first.
The Health redesign stays out and Europe gets a new tracking prompt
Apple removed the redesigned Health app from beta 4, and it is not in the update. Data from an earlier beta stays on the iPad and remains viewable in Settings.
Users in Europe get an alternative App Tracking Transparency prompt that re-prompts every year, and the prompt is required in France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Romania.
