Apple launched the iPhone 12 line-up last Tuesday at its ‘Hi, Speed’ event. The new lineup has four models, the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The new 6.1-inch Pro model is succeeding last year’s 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro model.
There is a dramatic difference between the screen sizes of the two models, but that is not all. The new iPhone 12 lineup features faster 5G connectivity and a powerful A14 processor in a new iPad Pro-like flat edge-to-edge design. The new smartphone models are equipped with Super Retina XDR Display which is protected by a 4 times more durable Ceramic Shield front cover.
Here are all the tech specs you need to make an informed decision to upgrade your iPhone model or not.
iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone 11 Pro – Should you upgrade?
This post highlights all major differences between the iPhone 11 Pro and 12 Pro to help customers figure out if Apple’s latest Pro smartphone is worth an upgrade from its predecessor or not.
The iPhone 11 Pro is equipped with a 5.8-inch OLED display which offers 800 nits’ brightness, HDR10, Dolby Vision. Whereas the 12 Pro has a 6.1-inch OLED display with 800 nits’ brightness, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and Ceramic Shield protection.
The iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro come with a triple-camera setup. Both smartphones feature the same telephoto and ultrawide camera. However, their primary camera differs. The 12MP camera of the iPhone 11 Pro has an f/1.8 aperture, whereas the camera of the 12 Pro has an f/1.6 aperture. The wider aperture should offer more polished images with an increased background blur for portraits.
The rear camera setup of the iPhone 12 Pro also comes with a LiDAR scanner which the iPhone 11 Pro lacks. The LiDAR scanner will help to increase AR functionality and offer better portrait images. Lastly, the iPhone 12 Pro has Night mode support for all cameras, Night Mode Hyper Lapse, and Dolby Vision video recording.
The iPhone 12 Pro Is powered by Apple’s custom-designed A14 Bionic chip. The new A14 Bionic processor delivers 40 percent GPU and 30 percent faster GPU performance than the A12 chip and approximately 16 percent faster than the A13 chip in the iPhone 11 Pro models. With a 16-core neural engine and a new ML matrix, Apple’s A14 Bionic is the fastest performing chip in an iPhone.
