iPhone 14 launch will be a ‘pivotal moment’ for Apple, says analyst

Apple’s special fall 2022 event “Far Out,” is slated to take place in under two weeks on September 7. The tech giant will announce the iPhone 14 lineup at the event. According to Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives, the launch of the next flagship iPhone will be “another pivotal moment for Cupertino.”

iPhone 13

A new report reiterates Apple will have an initial order for 90 million units of the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup

As per an analyst note shared by Ped30, Ives reiterates an initial order for 90 million iPhone 14 units will be “roughly flat with iPhone 13 despite the macro storm clouds building.” In addition to this, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are expected to be the most popular models out of the entire lineup.

In line with previous reports regarding the lineup’s pricing, the analyst says the standard iPhone models will stay at the same price. However, a $100 price increase is expected for the Pro models due to component price increases and added functionality.

The analyst note goes on to mention the COVID-19 lockdowns that affected Apple’s production in China from March-May. Despite the lockdowns, Apple managed to stay on track with production and is set to release the iPhone 14 lineup even earlier than usual. This suggests that the Cupertino tech giant is confident that production will largely remain unaffected.

iPhone 14 Pro

The analyst concludes by saying “Apple’s growth story remains well intact with clear momentum around iPhone 14 around the corner despite the shaky macro.”

This year’s standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are set to feature the same design as their predecessor with the same A15 chip. On the other hand, the Pro models are expected to get the A16 chip, a pill + hole punch cutout for the display, and major camera upgrades. All models are expected to feature 6GB of RAM.and support 30W charging. As for the internal storage of the device, there are some conflicting reports about whether it will start from 128GB or 256GB, given the price hike.

In addition to this, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have reported that the Pro models will feature an upgraded front camera. As revealed by Kuo, the front camera will feature autofocus which will offer sharper images and improved picture quality.
