Nvidia GeForce Now gets support for M1 MacBooks with 1600p gaming with RTX 3080

Nvidia has announced new updates to GeForce Now which bring support for M1 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac, with support for 1600p native resolution game streaming, as well as a free copy of Crysis with select membership tiers.

GeForce Now is an online game streaming service that now only works on M1 MacBook models, but also supports iOS and Android. Gamers can start a gaming session on one device, and move seamlessly to another device, with GeForce Now doing the heavy lifting for graphics processing as well as handling game saves for supported games. This means that gamers do not have to worry if a game is available for macOS – all they have to do is stream the game.

Nvidia GeForce Now updates for M1 Macs

Thanks to GeForce Now RTX 3080 membership, gamers can stream and play games at native 1600p resolution on M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. The app already gained native support for M1 Macs back in January 2021. The membership also includes up to 8-hour gaming sessions, alongside real-time ray tracing in games like Cyberpunk 2077.

Plus, GeForce NOW RTX 3080 members can now play at native resolution on their M1 Macbook Air or Macbook Pro, at glorious 1600p. Stream with even longer sessions lengths — up to eight hours. And with RTX ON for both RTX 3080 and Priority members, experience games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Control with real-time ray tracing, without upgrading to a PC.

Games like Valheim, Apex Legends, Cyberpunk 2077, Control, Crysis, Watchdogs Legion, Fortnite, Far Cry 6, and many more can be played on Macs using GeForce Now.

The latest GeForce Now update also features a fix that corrects the aspect ratio on M1 Max MacBook Pro models.

The update also includes a fix for streaming at the correct aspect ratio on the Apple MacBook Pro M1 Max, as well as improvements to the countdown timer when viewed on the in-game overlay.

Nvidia is also offering a free copy of Crysis Remastered with six-month Priority GeForce Now memberships as well as GeForce Now RTX 3080. Customers will receive a redeemable code for Crysis Remastered which can be used on the Epic Games Store.
