Recently, leakers posted images of redesigned leather loop bands for Apple Watch on Reddit. The photos shared on the social networking website show that the new loop bands have a different finish, design and colors than the currently available leather loop bands.
The alleged wrist bands have smaller distinctly protruding ridges which do not extent to the edges like the current ones. With more vibrant color tones, the leaked photos show them hot pink, red, dark black, aqua blue, and two variations of brown. As per the images, the bands would also be offered in two styles of edges, same color, and accent edges in a different color.
A Youtube video uploaded on May 9 shows that the new leather loops will magnetically close. Besides the color gradients, ridge sizes and edges are completely different from the currently available variants of the accessory.
As standard practice, the new leather loops would also be available in 40mm and 44mm wrist sizes. The rumor mill expects Apple to release the new bands by next month. However, we are expecting their launch at the WWDC20 online event on June 22.
Although counterfeit items and false leaks are always in circulation with Apple’s ‘soon to release’ products, this particular leak is corroborated by establish tech publisher 9to5mac. After the images surfaced on Reddit, the tech publisher shared that a tipster had sent information of the new bands and that they will be released by next month. The redesigned loops in images from both sources, Reddit and 9to5mac, are the same.
New Pride Edition Apple Watch Bands
The unfinished look of the alleged leather wrist bands reflects that the design is still work in progress but clearly depicts a more sporty strap design. Maybe Apple is aiming to market the leather loops to its athletic customers. Recently, Apple launched two new Pride edition sports bands representing the symbolic flag of LGBTQ community with accompanying Pride faces for the Apple Watch.
Apple currently sells two types of leather straps for Apple Watch, Modern Buckle and Leather Loop bands, which retail for $149 and $99, respectively.
