One of the iPhone features, Apple is most excited about ‘SharePlay’ is now available on iOS 15 beta 2 for testers. Announced at the WWDC21 event, the new sharing functionality will enable users to listen to music, share screens, watch movies, and much more with family, friends, and colleagues.
SharePlay brings new ways to stay virtually connected with family, friends, and even colleagues. In FaceTime calls with YouTubers, Apple’s Head of Software Craig Federighi shared that his favorite feature in the new iPhone OS update is SharePlay because it gives users the opportunity to share the content that intrigues them with their loved one all in real-time. By sharing songs they are listening to, shows, or movies they are watching, users will have more talk about and a chance to get to know each other better. SharePlay can also be used by students or team members to collaborate for work virtually when they cannot be together physically.
Users can SharePlay movies, TikTok videos, and music on iPhones and iPads running on iOS 15 beta 2
With Messages, Maps, Notifications, Weather, Safari, Wallet, Health and other updates, Apple updated FaceTime in beta 2 of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 with Spatial Audio, SharePlay, cross-platform calls, and more.
Now right inside FaceTime, users can connect with their friends in a completely new way to watch TikTok videos, co-watch TV shows, movies, or documentaries, conduct tutorials via screen sharing, and enjoy their favorite tracks all in real-time. Every member of the SharePlay party will be able to play or pause videos and skip tracks.
In addition to Apple’s own TV+ app, users will be able to stream content from third-party streaming services: HBO Max, Hulu, Disney+, NBA, MasterClass, Paramount+, ESPN+, and Pluto TV. The company has also made Group Activities API available for developers to integrate their apps in FaceTime with SharePlay support. That means more apps will be available for sharing on iOS in the future.
