Spotify releases new ‘Find songs by Lyrics’ feature on iOS and Android

Today, Spotify has released a new search feature on iOS and Android, find songs by lyrics. Now users will be able to find songs on the music streaming service by their lyrics. The designer of the new feature shared the latest addition to the service’s mobile apps on Twitter.

Spotify is a digital music service with millions of songs and podcasts for a $9.99 monthly subscription fee. Recently, the service launched an innovative new feature ‘Group Session’ which allows users to listen to music together from anywhere in the world. The feature is inspired by the need to keep people virtually connected in the prevailing global health crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spotify’s New Songs Search Feature

@Lina, Spotify’s designer posted a screenshot of the Find songs by lyrics on Twitter. The shared image shows that users can now simply type in a line of a song’s composition and the app will automatically display all the songs, albums, and playlists with those lyrics.

The company is focusing on incorporating a wider use of lyrics on its service. In July, the service introduced support of real-time lyrics in 26 countries. Subscribers can now easily get lyrics by tapping on the Lyrics option at the bottom of the Now Playing interface to sing along a song or have karaoke style nights with family and friends. This new addition will further improve users’ experience on the platform by allowing users to easily look-up songs of which they only know a few lines.

Having said that, Spotify has taken a little longer than rival music streaming service, Apple Music to incorporate both lyrics-related features on its service. In 2018, Apple introduced the search for song by lyrics capability, and in 2019 the real-time lyrics feature was released. Recently, Apple also added time-synced lyrics on its service which Spotify has yet to launch.

Users can download the Spotify app from App Store and Google Play for iOS and Android devices, for free.
