It seems the trend this year for Apple to release day one patches for its new hardware. iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models received a day one patch in the form of iOS 16.0.1. In the same manner, Apple Watch Ultra is receiving a day one patch with watchOS 9.0.1, while other Apple Watch models will remain on watchOS 9, until watchOS 9.1 ships next month.

watchOS 9.0.1 fixes just one issue, as per Apple’s official release notes:

This update includes improvements and bug fixes for your Apple Watch Ultra.

  • Audio could be distorted during phone calls using speakers

Apple Watch Ultra users can download the update by going to Settings > General > Software Update on their paired iPhone. Alternatively, users can also go to Settings > Software Update on their Apple Watch Ultra to start the download. The watch should have at least 50% battery charge before starting the update process and should be placed on its charger until the update is completed.
