iOS 27.3 Beta Lets You Film Yourself Singing with Apple Music Selfie Sing

Apple Music Selfie Sing is a new feature in the iOS 27.3 beta that records a video of you singing along to a song. It builds on Apple Music Sing, the karaoke mode Apple announced in December 2022, and adds a front camera view with the lyrics on screen. Apple Music Sing gave you adjustable vocals and real-time lyrics on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV 4K. Selfie Sing adds a recording, so the result is a video you can save or share. iOS 27.3 Beta Lets You Film Yourself Singing with Apple Music Selfie Sing

Apple Music Selfie Sing records you with the lyrics on screen

Aaron (@aaronp613) posted a first look at Selfie Sing on X. You pick a song and tap the camera icon to open the selfie view, and the red button starts the recording while the lyrics scroll across the screen. When the song ends, you can change the volume of your voice or add an effect. The effects are Megaphone, Echo, Concert Hall and Studio. You then save the video to the Photos library or share it with friends. Selfie Sing is not available on every Apple Music song, and Apple has a dedicated Selfie Sing playlist of songs people tend to sing together. Animoji is not available in the recording, as Aaron noted in his post.

The camera option is only in the iOS 27.3 beta

The Selfie Sing playlist shows up on iPhones running iOS 27.2, but the option to turn on the front camera is only in the iOS 27.3 beta. Apple seeded beta 1 to developers on November 3, and iOS 27.3 is set for a public release in December. Registered developers can install the developer beta from Settings, General, Software Update. The first beta also brings back the redesigned Health app and adds Safari vertical tabs, so Selfie Sing is one of several new additions in iOS 27.3. Apple Music gets another change from Siri AI actions, which can turn a request such as songs for a day at the beach into a playlist you can save to your library.

Apple Music Sing already had a vocal slider and an Apple TV mode

The original Apple Music Sing has a vocal slider that lowers the original singer’s volume while you sing, and it does not remove the vocals completely. Selfie Sing applies its volume control to your own voice after the video is recorded. Karaoke Mode brings the Sing playlists to the 2022 Apple TV 4K, with your iPhone paired by QR code. Apple launched Apple Music Sing on all compatible iPhone and iPad models and the 2022 Apple TV 4K, with adjustable vocals on millions of songs and more than 50 companion playlists.
