Apple TV app is now available on Chromecast with Google TV

Apple TV app is now available worldwide on Chromecast with Google TV. The new app enables Google TV users to see Apple TV+ original content, along with access to existing iTunes movie and television show purchases. The launch of the app on Google TV was announced last year in December.

As an all original content video streaming service, Apple TV+ offers a range of titles for kids and adults. The company is periodically adding more content and renewing the next seasons of the current ones. Now Google TV users will be able to watch these shows as well.

Google TV gives users with subscriptions to Apple TV+ the ability to tune into award-winning original shows, movies and documentaries from the world’s most creative storytellers. You can enjoy Apple Originals, including series like “Ted Lasso,” which was recently nominated for two Golden Globes, “For All Mankind” season two debuting tomorrow, “The Morning Show” and “Servant,” as well as movies like “Greyhound” and “Palmer.” The Apple TV app also gives you access to your library of movie and TV show purchases from Apple, as well as personalized and curated recommendations and Apple TV channels. And with Family Sharing, up to six family members can share subscriptions to Apple TV+ and Apple TV channels.

Google TV users in the U.S. can search for titles on the Apple TV+ video streaming service and iTunes movies and TV shows library. Google Assistant support allows users to open the app and play any show or movie on the service via voice commands. In addition, they can also add a title to their “Watchlist” to enjoy it later. As per the announcement, these features will roll out globally in a few months.

The availability of Apple’s video streaming service on Google TV would prove beneficial to expand its reach and viewership further. Previously, Sony launched the app on its 2020, 2019, and 2018 TV sets and on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. And now Chromecast is another good addition.

The Chromecast with Google TV is packed with the latest technology—it streams crystal-clear video in up to 4K HDR at up to 60 frames per second and now has a voice remote. The remote has a dedicated Google Assistant button that helps you find something to watch, answer everyday questions like “how’s the weather?” or dim your compatible smart home lights with just your voice. It also eliminates the need for multiple remotes thanks to programmable TV controls for power, volume and input.

Users with the $50 Chromecast with Google TV adapter can access Apple TV. Additionally, the app is also available on smart TVs from TCL and Sony that have the Google TV UI. Google says it will expand to feature more Android TV-based devices in the coming months. You can download the Apple TV for Chromecast here.
