Apple Watch Series 12 is already discounted on Amazon, just two days after its official launch. The 42mm GPS model has dropped to $389.99 from $399.
Apple Watch Series 12 features faster charging, a new Readiness app, and measures heart rate 60 times more frequently and heart rate variability 24 times more frequently than Apple Watch Series 11.

Apple Watch Series 12 Takes a Heart Rate Reading Every Five Seconds
Apple Watch Series 12 takes background heart rate readings every five seconds and measures heart rate variability as often as every five minutes. HRV is a reliable signal for stress recovery and readiness, so more frequent readings mean a more accurate daily picture.
Apple tested Apple Watch Series 12 against competitors across workouts and daily living. It came out statistically more accurate in 139 out of 159 individual activity and measurement comparisons. Larger, power-efficient green LEDs on the optical heart sensor make the higher reading frequency possible without draining the battery faster.
The Readiness Score Turns Sensor Data Into a Daily Recommendation
Each morning, Apple Watch Series 12 analyzes your recent activity, training load, vitals, and sleep to produce a single 0-10 Readiness score. That score comes with one of four recommendations:
- Recover
- Pace Yourself
- Ready
- Go For It
Unlike Oura and Whoop, the score lives directly on your wrist. You don’t need to pull out your phone to see it.
Charging Time Is Cut in Half Compared to Apple Watch Series 11
Fifteen minutes of charging now delivers 12 hours of normal use, up from eight hours on Apple Watch Series 11. Full battery life for a normal day stays at 24 hours.
Ceramic Shield 2 Makes the Case Tougher Than Series 11
The aluminum case now uses Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple claims is 60 percent tougher than the Ion-X glass on Apple Watch Series 11. The watch runs on the new S11 chip, built from A20 Pro-derived CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine components.
The Vitals App Now Covers Sleep, Blood Oxygen, and Cycle Tracking
The Vitals app displays overnight metrics and daily sleep scores alongside blood oxygen readings and menstrual cycle tracking, all synced to your iPhone. You’ll need iOS 27 or later and an iPhone 11 or newer to use Apple Watch Series 12.
Our Take
I think the sensor upgrade matters more than the discount here. A 2 percent price cut is nice, but 60 times more frequent heart rate readings on the same battery life is the actual reason to consider Apple Watch Series 12 over holding onto an older model.
Siri AI Works on Your Wrist Now, With More on the Way
Siri AI is available now in English, letting you have back-and-forth voice conversations directly on Apple Watch Series 12. Audio Intelligence features, including Live Rewind and Siri Recap, arrive in beta in late 2026. Both require the S11 chip, so neither feature will reach older Apple Watch models.
