iPadOS 27 shipped with a genuinely large batch of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features, and developers moved fast to build on top of them. We went through the update and matched 25 apps to the specific iPadOS 27 feature each one is using, split across five categories.
Foundation Models Now Run Inside Tiimo, Memo and Three Other Everyday Apps
Apple Intelligence’s Foundation Models aren’t limited to Apple’s own apps anymore. Developers can build directly on top of them, and five apps are already doing it.
| App | What It Does | iPadOS 27 Feature Used |
|---|---|---|
| Tiimo | ADHD planner and daily task scheduler | On-device Foundation Models for smarter task suggestions |
| Memo | Voice recorder with AI transcription | Foundation Models for summarizing recorded meetings |
| Meditopia | Sleep and meditation app | Foundation Models personalizing session recommendations |
| Phocus | DSLR-style portrait camera | Foundation Models assisting with photo editing decisions |
| Noted | Recording and transcription app | Foundation Models for AI meeting notes |
Safari and Shortcuts got the same engine under the hood. Safari now sorts open tabs by topic on its own, flags price drops on pages you’ve visited, and builds a custom browser extension from a text description. Shortcuts can generate an entire automation the same way, by describing what you want it to do.
Visual Intelligence Lets CamScanner and LookUp Read Whatever Is On Screen
Siri mode in the Camera app is the other half of iPadOS 27’s intelligence push. Point the camera at something, or take a screenshot of whatever is on your iPad, and Visual Intelligence identifies it, explains it, or acts on it.
The bill-splitting example is the clearest one. Screenshot a restaurant bill and Siri AI can divide it between people, or spot a lamp in a photo and help track down where to buy it.
| App | What It Does | iPadOS 27 Feature Used |
|---|---|---|
| CamScanner | Document scanning and OCR | Visual Intelligence for faster document capture and conversion |
| Must Read | Book tracker and reading log | Screenshot-based Visual Intelligence to add books from a cover photo |
| LookUp | English dictionary and vocabulary builder | Siri AI definitions triggered from an on-screen screenshot |
| Sofa | Downtime organizer for shows, books and podcasts | Screenshot flow to log media without leaving the source app |
| Spinstack | Vinyl collection manager | Camera-based Visual Intelligence to scan and log a record |
Image Playground Puts AI Generated Art Directly Inside Goodnotes and Mockup
iPadOS 27 also upgrades Photos with Spatial Reframing, an Extend tool for widening a shot after it’s taken, and a stronger Clean Up tool for removing larger objects from a photo. Image Playground gets new creation modes on top of that, and five apps now build it in directly.
| App | What It Does | iPadOS 27 Feature Used |
|---|---|---|
| Goodnotes | AI note-taking and PDF markup | Image Playground for generating illustrations inside notes |
| Penjo | Handwritten pencil journal | Image Playground for custom journal page art |
| Mockup | UI/UX wireframing tool | Image Playground for generating placeholder design assets |
| LADDER | Strength training plans | Image Playground for personalized workout graphics |
| MindNode | Mind mapping and outlining | Image Playground for visualizing brainstormed ideas |
Siri AI Becomes a Real Conversation Partner Inside Tripsy and Habitify
The all-new Siri AI is the headline feature of iPadOS 27. It understands broad world knowledge, your personal context, and whatever is currently on your screen, and it holds an actual back-and-forth conversation through the dedicated Siri app.
“Write with Siri” is part of the same update. It drafts text from scratch or gives feedback on something already written, and it works system-wide rather than inside a single app.
| App | What It Does | iPadOS 27 Feature Used |
|---|---|---|
| Tripsy | Travel planner and itinerary organizer | Siri AI pulling trip details into itinerary suggestions |
| Habitify | Habit tracker | Siri AI voice logging for habits and streaks |
| Guitar Wiz | Tuner, chords and practice app | Siri AI answering chord and tuning questions directly |
| Dark Noise | Ambient sound app | Siri AI surfacing a specific sound on request |
| Workout Stats | Personal best and training tracker | Siri AI pulling training load and pace data on request |
Liquid Glass Gets a Tint Slider Across SmartGym, Stoic and Three More Apps
Liquid Glass got refined for readability, with more uniform refraction and better contrast. A new slider lets you dial the effect anywhere from fully clear to fully tinted, and these five apps show the redesign in practice.
| App | What It Does | iPadOS 27 Feature Used |
|---|---|---|
| SmartGym | Gym and home workout plans | Liquid Glass tint slider in the workout interface |
| Stoic | Journal and habit tracker | Liquid Glass refinements on journaling screens |
| Waterllama | Water intake tracker | Liquid Glass tint slider applied to reminders |
| OSN+ | Movie and series streaming | Liquid Glass refinements across the browsing interface |
| Andalusi AI Design | Photo and video templates | Liquid Glass tint slider in the editing canvas |
iPadOS 27 also extends Apple Pencil handwriting recognition well beyond Notes and Reminders. Handwritten text now turns into fully searchable, interactive text across more apps and a wider range of languages and alphabets.
Our Take
The fastest-moving part of this rollout is how quickly third-party developers got access to Foundation Models. Apps like Tiimo and MindNode aren’t household names, but they’re exactly the kind of focused, single-purpose apps that benefit most from on-device AI without needing a server bill behind it.
I’d also watch the Image Playground integrations closely. Goodnotes and Mockup building AI image generation into note-taking and design tools is a preview of where every productivity app on the App Store is headed next.
Apple Intelligence and Siri AI currently support 16 languages, including English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Siri AI will not be available in the European Union at launch on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or watchOS 27.
