A fully specced touchscreen MacBook Pro costs $14,549 at 16 inches and $14,249 at 14 inches. Both builds use M5 Max with the 40-core GPU, 128GB of memory, 16TB of storage and nano-texture glass, and pre-orders opened October 28 with deliveries starting November 6.
That is $4,400 more than the fully specced 16-inch build on the MacBook Pro with Liquid Retina XDR, which tops out at $10,149 because its storage stops at 8TB.
A fully specced touchscreen MacBook Pro costs $4,400 more, and $4,000 of that is storage
Only $400 of the increase comes from touch and the new display, since the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display costs $400 more at every size. The same 16-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro build with 8TB of storage instead of 16TB costs $10,549, against $10,149 for the model without touch.
The other $4,000 is the step from 8TB to 16TB, an option the earlier model never offered. Only M5 Max can be configured with it, and 16TB adds $7,000 over the included 2TB while 8TB adds $3,000.
Memory and storage add $9,000 to the M5 Max starting price
The 16-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro with M5 Max starts at $4,799 with an 18-core CPU and a 32-core GPU. Nano-texture glass, now etched into the cover glass, adds $150. The 40-core GPU adds $300 and requires 48GB of memory, and the two together add $600, which brings the price to $5,549.
Moving to 128GB of memory adds $2,000 for $7,549, and 16TB of storage adds $7,000 for the $14,549 total. A 64GB build sits in between at $400 more than 48GB, and 128GB then costs another $1,600. The 128GB option is the one aimed at on-device AI, and Apple says M5 Max can run language models with hundreds of billions of parameters entirely on the Mac.
The 14-inch build is $300 cheaper because the 14-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro with M5 Max starts at $4,499, which makes its maximum $14,249. The upgrades add the same $9,750 on both sizes.
Apple Card installments reach $1,212.41 a month on the 16-inch
Apple Card Monthly Installments split the 16-inch build into 12 payments of $1,212.41 at 0 percent APR, and the 14-inch build runs $1,187.41 a month. An Apple Upgrade lease starts at $332.18 a month for 36 months on the 16-inch and $326.34 on the 14-inch, before taxes and trade-in credit.
On October 29, the 16-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro with M5 Max, 48GB of memory and 2TB of storage ships November 7, while the maxed-out 16-inch build ships in two to three weeks.
