iOS 14 is the next major release for Apple’s mobile operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. As per reports, iOS 14 will support the same devices that iOS 13 supports, which means that the 7 year old iPad Air 2 will also get the update.
Two Apple centered tech publishers, The Verifier and iPhonesoft report that all devices supporting iOS 13 will be in line for the new iOS 14 upgrade as well. The new iOS 14 update is anticipated to enhance performance and introduce new features, even on the older iPhone 6s with A9 chip. Check out our coverage of the new features expected in iOS 14.

Traditionally, Apple provides software updates for devices for up to 5 years, however, the company will be going beyond that for some devices with iOS 14.
Release Date for iOS 14
The release is expected to be in mid-September, which is in line with previous iOS 9 to iOS 13 launch dates for the general public. Although, with the current situation and its impact, the date may be delayed to October or later.
As always, Apple will release the test versions of iOS 14 in the following manner:
- Developer beta is expected to be launch right after WWDC20 event on June 22.
- Public beta will release a few weeks after.
The beta versions will help get an actual idea of the actual features and changes in iOS 14. The beta releases also help Apple developers fix bugs and enhance the user experience based on feedback from beta testers, before the actual launch.
