Marbles Unhinged Lets You Fold the iPhone Duo to Tilt a Marble Maze

Marbles Unhinged is a free marble maze game for the iPhone Duo where folding the phone turns the maze floor into a ramp. Other iPhones and iPads can play the game too, so a foldable is optional.

Developer Cromulent Labs released the game on the App Store, and Apple’s editors picked it for their Great Games on iPhone Duo collection, alongside Greens: Mini-golf, Orisuji, Fieldrunners 2 and PianoFold. The game sits among iPhone Duo apps that use the fold as a control, such as Orisuji, a paper maze you solve by folding the phone.

Marbles Unhinged turns the iPhone Duo fold into a ramp, a wall or a drop

You tilt the phone to roll the marble, and the hinge gives you a second control. Bending the top half turns its floor into a ramp, and the steeper you fold, the faster the marble rolls.

The hinge works four ways in the game.

  • Folding the top half turns its floor into a ramp.
  • Standing the top half upright makes a wall you can bank the marble off.
  • Snapping the hinge sends the marble off the floor.
  • Rocking the whole phone shifts gravity on both halves at once.

Each world changes the rules, from two marbles to mirrored boards

The first world, The Fold, adds ramps, angle gates, ice and rails. The world called Duo gives you two marbles on two screens with one tilt, and Mirror makes the top half a reflection of the bottom half.

Impulse lets you snap the hinge to throw the marble across the crease. The fifth world, Unhinged, puts every trick from the first four on one board.

You can chase three stars on every level and climb the Game Center leaderboards. Version 1.0.2 fixed rotation issues on iPhone Duo, and version 1.0.3 simplified the Switchback level.

Marbles Unhinged is free to start, with one-time unlocks and no subscriptions

The download is free with in-app purchases, and the first levels of each world cost nothing, so you can try every world before buying an unlock. Every unlock is a one-time purchase and there are no subscriptions. Family Sharing can cover some of the purchases.

Cromulent Labs also makes widget apps such as Launcher with Multiple Widgets and Widget Art Gallery. The developer says the game may collect purchase, identifier, usage and diagnostic data that is not linked to your identity.

Marbles Unhinged is a 47.8 MB download that requires iOS 18.0 or later. The game is in English and carries a 4+ age rating.
