Siri AI is one of the biggest upgrades in iOS 27, bringing a completely redesigned Siri experience powered by Apple Intelligence. It can understand natural conversations, search your personal information, complete actions across apps, and answer questions about what’s on your screen.
Because it’s such a major upgrade, it’s also one of the features users report the most problems with during the iOS 27 beta. If Siri AI isn’t responding, can’t find your emails or messages, or keeps behaving like the old Siri, here are the best fixes to try.
Make Sure Your iPhone Supports Siri AI
Before troubleshooting anything else, verify that your iPhone supports Apple Intelligence. Siri AI is only available on compatible devices, so unsupported iPhones will continue using the traditional Siri experience.
If your device is supported but you’ve only recently installed iOS 27, Apple Intelligence may still be downloading or preparing its models in the background. Some features don’t become available immediately after updating.
1. Check Siri’s App Permissions
Many of Siri AI’s new capabilities rely on access to your apps. If app access is disabled, Siri won’t be able to perform many of its new actions.

3. Toggle Siri Off and Back On
If Siri opens but doesn’t respond correctly or voice activation stops working, try refreshing the service.
1. Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri.
2. Turn Siri off.
3. Wait a few seconds.
4. Turn Siri back on and complete the setup again if prompted.
This can resolve problems caused by beta updates without affecting your data.
4. Check Your Internet Connection
Although many Apple Intelligence features run on your device, some Siri AI requests still rely on Apple’s servers or Private Cloud Compute.
If Siri hangs on requests or fails to generate responses, try switching between Wi-Fi and cellular to rule out a network issue.
5. Give Spotlight Time to Reindex
After installing iOS 27, your iPhone rebuilds search indexes for apps, emails, messages, notes, photos, and other content.
Until that process finishes, Siri AI may struggle to find personal information or complete searches accurately. If you’ve just updated, leave your iPhone connected to power and Wi-Fi for a while before assuming something is broken.
