watchOS 8.4.2 released with bug fixes and security updates

Apple has released watchOS 8.4.2 for Apple Watch Series 3 and later models. The update features bug fixes and security updates.

watchOS 8.4.1 was previously released with bug fixes for Apple Watch Series 4 and later. Earlier, watchOS 8.4 was released with a fix for a charging issue with certain models.

Continuing with the trend from the previous release, Apple has not shared specifics of the changes in this software update. The release notes simply mention undisclosed security updates and bug fixes.

watchOS 8.4.2 includes security updates and bug fixes for your Apple Watch.

The previous major software update with new features and changes was watchOS 8.3. It featured Apple Music Voice Plan, App Privacy Report, ECG support for China, and Assistive Touch support for older Apple Watch models.

Apple is currently testing watchOS 8.5 with developers and public beta testers. So far, no new features have been discovered in the new beta updates.

watchOS 8.4.2 is compatible with the following Apple Watch models.

Install watchOS 8.4.2

To download and install watchOS 8.4.2, place your Apple Watch on its charger and make sure that it has at least 50% battery charge. Go to Watch app on your iPhone and navigate to General > Software Update. Wait for the new update to appear and start the download process. During the update, make sure that you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network, and your iPhone is in close proximity to your Apple Watch.
