Apple has released watchOS 27.2 beta 4 and visionOS 27.2 beta 4 to registered developers. The new builds arrive alongside fresh betas of iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, and macOS Golden Gate 27.2.
The update lands about a week after watchOS 27.2 beta 3. There is no tvOS 27.2 beta 4 yet, so Apple TV testers will have to wait for that one. Developers can grab the new betas from the Settings app on each device.
The Redesigned Health App Is Still Being Tested in watchOS 27.2
The main thing Apple is testing across iOS 27.2 and watchOS 27.2 is the new Health app it showed off at the September iPhone event. The redesign adds Insights and Longevity tabs, along with a readiness score.
That readiness score draws on data from the new Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 models. If you own either one, this is the update that decides how useful the new Health app turns out to be day to day. We already covered how the iOS 27.2 public beta brings the redesigned Health app to testers, so the iPhone side of the story is worth a read if you want the full picture.
Apple Has Not Detailed Anything New for visionOS 27.2 or tvOS 27.2
Apple has not said what is being added in visionOS 27.2 on Apple Vision Pro, and the same goes for tvOS 27.2. For now, the Health app is the only headline feature tied to this round of betas.
The tvOS gap is the more noticeable one. Apple skipped tvOS 27.2 beta 4 while shipping everything else, which means that platform is on a slightly different schedule from the rest of the 27.2 family.
watchOS 27.2 has been in testing since mid-September, and the cadence has varied. The first beta arrived on September 16, beta 2 followed on September 21, beta 3 came on October 5, and beta 4 is out on October 13.
Earlier builds have also changed how the watch behaves. Beta 2 brought back the App Switcher with a new gesture, which was one of the more visible tweaks so far. Four betas in, the 27.2 release itself looks like it is getting closer, though Apple has not given a date.
watchOS 27 Runs on Apple Watch Series 9 and Later
watchOS 27 supports the Apple Watch Series 9 and later, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later, and the Apple Watch SE 3. Apple released it on September 14 with Siri AI, a new watch face, and Smart Stack improvements.
Apple then shipped watchOS 27.0.1 for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 to fix a bug that caused unexpected restarts, which we covered in our post on the watchOS 27.0.1 restart fix. On September 28, that update reached every eligible Apple Watch, including the Apple Watch Series 9 and later.
