The new iPad Pro mini LED display will go into production by the second quarter of 2021

As per the report, “Ennostar will kick off production of mini LED backlight units (BLU) at the end of first-quarter 2021 or in the second quarter, according to industry sources.” Earlier, the publisher claimed that 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro model will be shipped with the new display technology along with the 16-inch MacBook Pro this year.

Apple is reportedly looking to adopt miniLED displays for its new iPads and MacBook Pros in 2021, while Samsung Electronics is expected to release a miniLED tablet and Micro-Star International (MSI) a miniLED notebook, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

The sources expect that Apple’s 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros and 16-inch MacBook Pro set to be released in 2021 will be equipped with miniLED displays and adoption of miniLED will be expanded to its MacBook Air products in 2022.

mini LED technology uses diodes smaller than 0.2mm in size which deliver higher brightness and deeper contrasts in comparison to the LCD display, currently used in Apple’s tablets.

Although, supply chain sources give us an insight into what the tech giant is working on these reports should be taken with skepticism. Previously, DigiTimes reported that the new iPad Pro with mini LED display would launch in Q1 2021 but now it reports that production of display units would begin in the aforementioned quarter.
