iPhone 18 Reportedly Gets A20 Chip, Bigger Battery and Higher Price

A new iPhone 18 leak from China says the phone keeps the iPhone 17’s display and cameras and adds a 2nm A20 chip and a bigger battery. The same source also expects a higher price, and the iPhone 17 already starts at $899 after Apple’s $100 increase.

Digital Chat Station shared the details in a Weibo post on November 3 and expects the iPhone 18e, iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 to launch in the first half of 2027. He thinks the iPhone 18 will sell best of the three.

The iPhone 18 leak keeps the iPhone 17 screen and adds a new chip and battery

The iPhone 17 already has a 6.3-inch OLED display with ProMotion up to 120Hz, Face ID, an 18-megapixel front camera and two 48-megapixel rear cameras. Digital Chat Station gives the iPhone 18 a 6.3-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED, Face ID and dual 48-megapixel cameras, which is the same hardware. The 1.5K label fits the iPhone 17 panel, which is 2622 by 1206 pixels at 460 ppi.

The Dynamic Island is the one place he disagrees with earlier leaks. He keeps the regular Dynamic Island the iPhone 17 has today, while earlier leaks pointed to a smaller Dynamic Island across the lineup.

The iPhone 17 runs the A19 chip on a 3nm process, while he puts a 2nm A20 chip in the iPhone 18. He gave the iPhone 18e the same 2nm A20 last week, so both spring phones would share a chip. The battery is also bigger, though he gives no capacity, and Apple rates the iPhone 17 at up to 30 hours of video playback.

The iPhone 18 follows a $899 iPhone 17 that led global sales

He expects the iPhone 18 to cost more but names no figure. The iPhone 17 launched at $799 with 256GB of base storage, double the previous entry level. It now starts at $899 after Apple raised iPhone prices, while the iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199.

Counterpoint Research ranked the iPhone 17 as the best-selling smartphone in the world in the second quarter of 2026. Last week he put a 6.12-inch 60Hz OLED display on the iPhone 18e, and in a reply under the new post he said he does not expect many people to buy a 60Hz phone. Fixed Focus Digital said on Weibo on October 14 that iPhone 18 production starts at the end of November and that the stockpile looks large.
