Apple may be preparing a sizable customization update for one of the Apple Watch’s most popular faces. A new leak suggests watchOS 27 will add nine new color options to the Modular watch face.
The colors were discovered in the iOS 27 beta 5 code, although Apple has not yet shown previews of the new options. The discovery also adds to existing reports about new watch faces and Apple Watch models coming later this year.
Modular Watch Face Could Get 9 New Colors
The Modular watch face is one of Apple’s most customizable options, offering multiple complication slots and a wide selection of colors.
Developer and leaker Aaron Perris found references to nine additional Modular color options in iOS 27 beta 5. The beta does not currently show what the colors look like, but their names suggest Apple is preparing them for watchOS 27.
Apple could still change or remove some of the options before watchOS 27 is released, so the final color lineup is not confirmed.
New Colors Could Tie Into Apple Watch Accessories
The timing of the discovery is also interesting because Apple is expected to introduce new Apple Watch models and accessories next month.
The new Modular colors could potentially complement new watch bands, although there is currently no evidence directly connecting the colors to specific accessories.
Apple is expected to unveil the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 alongside its upcoming fall hardware lineup. If the new colors are designed around those products, they could give users another way to match their watch face with a new band.
watchOS 27 Could Also Get a New Modular Face
The latest leak is separate from another report about a new Modular-style watch face coming with watchOS 27.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously reported that Apple is working on a new face inspired by the Modular Ultra face. That would give users a new option alongside the existing Modular face, which is already popular among Apple Watch owners who want to display multiple complications.
More watchOS 27 Features Are Coming
Apple’s next major Apple Watch update also introduces new features and interface changes, including Apple Intelligence-related capabilities that rely on a paired compatible iPhone. watchOS 27 also drops support for several older Apple Watch models while adding support for newer hardware.
Apple is expected to release watchOS 27 alongside the new Apple Watch lineup this fall. Until then, additional details should emerge through the remaining beta releases.
