Reports regarding the new flagship iPhone 12, the latest price leak claims that the retail cost of the base model of the upcoming smartphone series might be $50 more than the current iPhone 11. Tech analyst, Jeff Pu predicts that the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 would retail for $749 because of high-end technology like OLED display and 5G network support. In comparison, the current 64GB iPhone 11 retails for $699 which has an LCD display.
Pu’s report of higher price iPhone 12 comes at the time when there is news of Apple excluding EarPods and power adaptor from the new smartphone’s box are circulating in the industry. It will be interesting to see how consumers would react to paying more money for a phone with no wired headphones and charger if both pieces of information prove to be accurate.
However, Pu believes that the consumers will not mind paying $50 more for a more advanced gadget with 5G connectivity and higher-resolution OLED display.
Other reports on Price
In April, tech analyst and Apple leaker, Jon Prosser asked his source about the accuracy of the rumored price tags claiming that the price range of the new iPhone series would start from $649 for base model till $1,099 for Pro Max models.
These prices were given to me from the same sources that nailed the iPhone SE launch date.
The 6.1” iPhone 12 is obviously a follow-up to the current $700 6.1” iPhone 11 – so technically, the 6.1” 12 model is increasing in price.

Prosser’s source corroborated Pu’s claim that the 6.1-inch model of the upcoming smartphone will be priced higher than the current 6.1-inch iPhone 11 model.
If the rumored design specs hold weight, it will be the first time that Apple would be offering an OLED display at a low price of $749 in contrast to the current $999 price tag of iPhone 11 Pro with the same display option.
Apple is expected to release the new flagship smartphone in September this year. Based on concept designs, CAD models, source leaks, and analyst reports, we have comprehensive coverage of the expected design and features details of the new iPhone 12.
Here are some of the most prominent specs:
- Four models in the new iPhone series: 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, 6.1-inch Pro and 6.7-inch Pro Max
- Flat edge design with an all-glass back
- Smaller notch
- 60Hz in 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch model and 120Hz ProMotion in high-end models
Both analysts have only mentioned the increase in price for the base model of the new iPhone, so it is unclear if Apple would follow the same pricing strategy across all models in the series and what would be increased amount for Pro and Pro Max variants.
