iOS 27.2 is the next big update for iPhone, and it is already in its third developer beta. The betas so far add 10 new features, led by a redesigned Health app, Siri AI in five more languages, and Apple TV profiles on iPhone.
Apple’s release notes for iOS and iPadOS 27.2 confirm some of these changes, and the rest turned up in the betas themselves. Apple started the cycle on September 16, two days after iOS 27 reached the public, and skipped iOS 27.1 betas along the way. Apple has not announced a public release date for iOS 27.2. The iPhone Duo goes on sale October 23 with iOS 27.1, and iOS 27.2 is expected to follow soon after.
The Redesigned Health App and Siri AI Languages Lead the List
1. Redesigned Health app. The Health app Apple showed at its September iPhone event is in the beta. It is organized into three tabs called Insights, Longevity, and Browse, and it adds a Health Age feature that compares your fitness age with your actual age. Our guide on how to try the redesigned Health app walks through each tab, and the first public beta opened it to regular testers on September 23.
The app is still rough in places, since Apple’s own notes say personalized summaries may not generate as expected in the Insights tab. Anyone with an upcoming Quest lab appointment should wait to update until the results arrive, and lab results are also available under Browse, then Lab Results.
2. Siri AI in five more languages. Siri AI launched with iOS 27 in English only. iOS 27.2 adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, and Apple has said all five reach the public in October. The feature runs on iPhone 15 Pro and newer, and it still needs a waitlist signup on some iPhones.
3. Apple TV profiles. The Apple TV app gets profiles on iPhone for the first time.
FaceTime, Podcasts, and CarPlay Ultra Pick Up Smaller Upgrades
4. Dual Capture in Group FaceTime. The feature uses the front and rear cameras at the same time, and it debuted in iOS 27 for one-on-one calls. iOS 27.2 brings it to Group FaceTime calls.
5. Anniversaries in Call Context. Call Context now surfaces birthday and anniversary reminders while you are on a call.
6. New Episodes in Apple Podcasts. Apple Podcasts renames Up Next to New Episodes, with a Continue Playing section directly below it.
7. New CarPlay Ultra themes. CarPlay Ultra gets new theme options, and our rundown of every new CarPlay feature in iOS 27 covers the base features.
The EU, China, and Apple Home Each Get Their Own iOS 27.2 Change
8. A new App Tracking Transparency prompt in the EU. Users there get an alternative App Tracking Transparency prompt and yearly re-prompting. Apple’s notes say the alternative prompt is required for users in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania.
9. Apple Music album release countdown timers. Users can keep track of when an upcoming album from their favorite artist will release thanks to new countdown timers in Apple Music app.
10. More Apple Home accessories. The Home app gains support for a Schneider Electric thermostat and sensor.
Beta 3 Code Points to Features Apple Has Not Announced
Developers digging through iOS 27.2 beta 3 found a new Apple Music logo and code for granular Suggested Actions controls in Messages. Earlier betas also hinted at a new “Restrict Motion Data” setting for iPhone users in mainland China, and an iPhone anti-snatching feature that is still in development. Apple has not announced any of these, so none of them are guaranteed for the public build.
The third developer beta arrived on October 5, and the second public beta followed on October 6.
